Re: Oppenheimer film
This was the most overrated shit I have seen in a long time. Murphy probably deserved his Oscar for the amount of time the camera was shoved in his face and I didn’t want to turn off, but RDJ was the same as he is in every fucking film and the English bint thought looking moody was acting. After Dune, I also have no idea why Florence Pugh keeps getting hired.

Best Film? No fucking chance.

The japs were animals and deserved what they got the way they treated POW’s. Cruel people.

Oppenheimer has just been released in Japan - so what do people in Hiroshima think?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-asia-68691883

Perhaps the Americans or the Chinese could make a film about the Rape of Nanking or the Bataan Death March?

Re: Oppenheimer film
Saw it yesterday. Absolutely fucking superb in several ways.Three hours felt like about 90 minutes. The non linear storytelling really wasn't an issue, at least not for me, in the way it was done.

The use of sound and silence was brilliant, and the Trinity test sequence will likely be considered a great moment of cinema in the future.

Only criticism was that there were a lot of supporting characters- particularly the scientists and administration staff- that it was slightly annoying to keep track of everyone and their names throughout the film.

This is probably going to hoover up Oscars though. Acting, directing, effects, sound etc.

The timeline thing works brilliantly in Oppenheimer.

Re: Oppenheimer film
Not seen Oppenheimer yet but thought Dunkirk’s playing on time only added to the film generally.
Absolutely fed up with cgi nonsense,if you cant appreciate a film and understand the history you may as well give up.It’s impossible to recreate moments in history.

Re: Oppenheimer film
I'm with you Shorty. When ever a drama starts fiddling with the timeline my heart sinks. It's very fashionable now, too.

I don't mind a flashback, but it should be no longer than a quarter of a page, ie, 15secs.

You're correct, IMO, that it's a sign that the writer struggled to write a linear script, so had to revert to being tricksy. OR is following the current fashion for the sake of it.

Re: Oppenheimer film
I enjoy most Nolan films. But the novelty of fucking around with the timeline, is tiresome. And doesn’t make him some kind of story telling genius. Seems like he can’t even give it up for a simple bio-pic. This one can wait until it’s on the box.

Tenant was rubbish. Amazes me how Denzel Washington can have such an ugly son

I like Nolan’s stance on non CGI but Dunkirk was a movie that needed it.

I think a few of them on the programme were. Concerned with the balance of power the Ruskies were soon provided with the wherewithal to build their own bomb post war.
